Structure and objectives of the programme
- To provide students with competences and skills needed in the profession in the local and the international market:
- to develop a sound theoretical background for translation
- to develop knowledge in terminology, terminography, skills in working with CAT tools
- to develop skills in translating variety of texts, focusing on law, politics and the economy
- To develop the students’ understanding of political, economic and legal processes serving as a context of texts for translation
- To introduce the problems of professional ethics, to educate responsible translators
- To familiarize students with the requirements for translators in Latvian, European and global market, develop their skills in translation project management
- To foster students’ creative thinking and independent learning, as well as to encourage their further post-graduate studies.
